Signs of Spring

Today was absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed walking around outdoors in a t-shirt feeling perfectly comfortable. While wandering through the back yard I spotted the crocuses coming up, they where spotting my back yard with little splashed of purple and green. Every year they come up in the early spring and cover only the back yard. I was happy to see them. They are a sign of the warmer weather that is coming. Thanks for looking!

Male Head

I am still messing around with this head I modeled yesterday. I textured it this morning in Photoshop and Lightwave. Then I took him back into ZBrush, did a light sculpt and, rendered him.

Enter the ZBrush 4

I made a basic Low-Res 3D head in Lightwave then, spent a few hours sculpting it in ZBrush. I think it came out alright. All this practicing is starting to pay off!

Enter the ZBrush 3

Here is another practice head done in ZBrush. I really feel like I'm getting more comfortable with ZBrush's tool set and interface. I can see my skills improving. I call this fellow George. (for no other reason then, he looks like a George to me.) Thanks for looking.

Working Class Hero

I usually don't play cover songs that much. I'm more into writing original musical compositions. John Lennon had a very honest way of writing. The songs that he has written can tug at every fiber of my humanity. This song more than others, at least for me, is the perfect example of that. I figured everyone and their brother has covered this song so, why not give it a try. I know I'm not nearly as talented as John Lennon, I could never touch his vocal so, I just sang it the best I could. I tried to make up for my lack of vocal talent with more of an emotional vocal. When I here this song it makes me feel sad and frustrated. I tried really hard to convey those emotions. I also added a little heavy guitar to the end just to give it a little more of my flavor.
Recorded on my 78' Fender F-12 Acoustic. I re-dubbed the vocals then, added a couple clean tracks and a dirty track with my PRS.
I hope that it does not completely suck and, I did this classic song some justice.

Thanks Les - Guitar Improvisation

My improvised tribute to the Late, Great, Les Paul. I may never play as good as Les, but he inspires me to play the best I can, enjoy it, and have a great time doing it. Thanks for all you have given us Les!

FUGITOID 3D

I have been doing a lot of figure modeling as of late. It has me feeling a little burnt out. I needed a little break from modeling for profit. I don’t know why but, modeling for money can take the fun out of it for me. I know I shouldn’t complain about it. I get to do what I love doing and, I’m paid to do it. It becomes stressful for me when I am charging people money for my work. I want my work to be perfect and, make sure customers get what they paid for.  Every little detail of the figure has to be right. That, in turn, makes it feel like a toilsome endeavor. It can really wear me down.
This morning I decided to make a figure model just for fun. I have to do this from time to time to remind me of why I enjoy doing this kind of work. When I model something for the heck of it, it becomes pleasurable again. There is no pressure to get it perfect. It reminds me of why I started doing this in the first place.
This model here is based on the “Fugitoid” Playmates action figure that sits on my desk. I like to model things that are around me. I was looking at this figure, noticing it’s basic shapes, thinking it would be amusing and easy to make. It took two hours in Lightwave3D to make the model then, another hour to make the chrome shader. I’m pretty happy with the results. Please don’t ask me for a copy of this model. I did it for my own amusement and, I am not the copyright holder. Therefore, I will have to say no.
  Thanks for looking.
