I'm over here working when I hear a loud bang on the window. I go
outside knowing full well that noise was from a bird that thought my
window was a fly through. I found this little guy laying in the flower
bed by the window. He knocked himself silly. Poor thing was in a state
of shock. I have never seen an animal, or human's,
pupil dilate in and out so fast. I let him sit on the ground for a few
while I inspected his wings and neck, as to insure nothing was broken
before handling him. After I determined that the only damage was
probably to his brain I picked him up to comfort him and keep him warm.
He must have stayed in my hands a good 20 min while I kept an eye on his
pupils and how alert he was acting. He eventually started to come
around and when he did he jumped up on my hoodie. He sat on my hoodie for
another half hour or so before attempting flight. He flew a little and
to my surprise flew back to my hand. I did not understand why he did
that because at this point he seemed fully alert and had no issues with
flight. My guess is it was because he was just a baby and like all
babies he wanted some comfort after obtaining a boo boo. I did coax him
to fly away again. This time he did and he flew to a nearby tree. Well,
there goes an hour of my day but, I do think I was able to help a poor
defenseless bird. If anyone knows what type of bird this is please let
me know. He still had a lot of his baby feathers and, really sucks at
flying. That is why I assume he is a baby.
